A Children’s Story about Bedtime Fears and a Step-by-Step Parent Guide

This book, and the material below, is meant to be inspirational and motivational for your child, and a source of information for you.  However, it is not meant as a substitute for direct, professional assistance.  If such a level of assistance is required, the services of a competent professional should be sought.

Below is the following:

  • A description of the book and information about how to obtain a free copy.

  • A brief “Look Inside”.

  • A parent’s and caregiver’s guide to how to use the book to help a child overcome their bedtime fears.  The extended explanation of the strategy used in the book can also be used without the use of the children’s picture book.

Description: Emily is frightened about going to bed in her own room.  She shares with her parents a variety of different fears, including a fear of the dark, a fear of monsters and a fear of someone breaking into the home.  Her mother explains to her that she need not be afraid; and she describes to Emily a strategy that will help her fall asleep on her own.  Emily is eventually successful at putting herself to sleep at bedtime.

This book contains both a picture book as well as a detailed guide for parents that explains a strategy that they can used to put frightened children to bed at night. It is recommended that the parent read both the children’s book and the parent guide before sharing the book with their child.
